“Great thoughts speak only to the thoughtful mind, But great actions speak to a mankind”

In the late 1960 ‘s Puttur had grown to be a town with people of other states residing in the town. Most of them were central government employees, especially working in the Mangalore- Hassan Railways.

Fr. Antony Pathrao, who had become the beacon of light to the people of Puttur, especially to the children and the youth through his adventure in the field of education, was quick to sense the need for an English Medium school, mainly for the children of these people and for the people of linguistic minority . With his characteristic determination and his attitude of service to all, he once again plunged into the noble cause of education. Another educational flower blossomed in Puttur, when he started the St. Victor English Medium Higher Primary School - the first in Puttur Taluk, in 1970.

To make it convenient for the little children to come, the school was started in the Mai De Deus church campus as it is in the heart of Puttur town and close to the bus stand.

Miss Jessy Fernandes, another stalwart in the field of education, supported this noble venture whole heartedly . Though it would be an additional responsibility as she was already the Headmistress of St. Victor Girls’ High School, she willingly accepted to be the first Headmistress of this school and saw to its functioning in the right direction. Sr. Lieta, Ms. Theresa Cutinho, Ms. Marceline Mascarenhas, Ms. Jacintha Leena Mascarenhas, Sr. Anna D’ Souza have served as Headmistress.

St. Victor English Higher Primary School, the tiny seed sown in 1970, has grown into a fully grown tree where the children receive guidance and help to form themselves into good , responsible and peace loving citizens of our country.
